Newcastle Dog Photography: Smashing It Out of the (St James') Park
As one of the most iconic cities in the North, Newcastle was an essential stop on my Angels of the North journey. It’s a place bursting with history, warmth, and some of the most stunning locations for dog photography. The city’s mix of modern and historic architecture provided endless inspiration, from the sweeping curves of the Quayside and the grandeur of the High Level Bridge and Castle to the intricate details of Central Arcade and the Theatre Royal. Be warned, Newcastle, I’ll be back. A lot.

Against the weathered stones of a historical location in Northern Cumbria, a distinguished gentleman with soulful eyes and the elegance of a natural model posed for his dog photography session. Meet Paddy, an 11-year-old lurcher whose surprisingly boundless energy which defies his years. As a specialist dog photographer in Cumbria, I was delighted to capture his distinctive personality against such a magnificent backdrop near a place where Paddy knows as home.
A Dog Photography Adventure in York Pt. 2
Welcome to Day 2 of my York dog photography adventure! This time, I had the pleasure of photographing two stunning large breeds: Bea the Standard Poodle and Doogle the Old English Sheepdog in the heart of this historic city. With their envious coats and striking presence, they brought a whole new dynamic to my urban dog photography sessions. I’ll be sharing insights into location scouting in York, the challenges of winter light and a spot of rain, and sharing the final images themselves. I’ll also be returning to York in a few weeks for my dog photography calendar project, and after all of these sessions, I know this city will continue to draw me back for more incredible canine portraits.

Angels of the North is a creative dog photography project celebrating the spirit of northern England through powerful, artistic portraits of dogs in 12 cities over the next six months. I’ll be photographing 60 dogs in striking locations filled with character—think weathered brick, steel, and historic architecture that reflects the unique heritage of each city.
