Meet Frankie:
Award-Winning Dog Photographer in Cumbria
Hello, I’m Frankie Adamson ABIPP & FBIPP, a multi award-winning dog and wildlife photographer endorsed by The British Institute of Professional Photography (The BIPP), based in Brampton, Cumbria. I love the outdoors, and I'm most likely the person found hanging out with the dog at your party. My work is all about capturing the essence and personality of your beloved dog and transforming those moments into stunning artwork for your home — pieces that will raise a smile every time you walk into the room.

Why Dog Photography?
I’ve been a dog lover since I was a child, but only became a dog owner later in my life when I adopted Indy, a 5-year-old Shetland Sheepdog.
Timid, gentle, and overweight for her small size, I spent a lot of time building up her confidence and her tolerance for exercise. I wasn’t even sure if she’d been on a ‘proper’ dog walk before.
We just connected, and she became my little shadow following me everywhere. Devastatingly, my time with Indy was even shorter than most dog-owner relationships as the vet found suspicious lumps in her throat less than two years later that would soon be diagnosed as aggressive lymphoma.
If she was only 5 when I adopted her then she only lived to see the age of 7 - to say this was a heartbreaking injustice is a massive understatement.
“I was to taste in little the grief
That comes of dogs’ lives being so brief,
Only a fraction of ours at most.
He might have been the dream of a ghost”
- Robert Frost: ‘One More Brevity’
I look back at the tiny number of phone photos I have of her and while they bring with them a whole raft of positive emotions, I regret deeply that I didn’t have the skills at the time to create something special that I could proudly display at home to this day.
Instead, my memories of Indy directly influenced my drive to learn the art of photography. I take as many pictures as possible of my dogs now, have them printed and hung on the walls of my own home, and I have her to thank for lighting the fire I needed for me to do this for other dog owners.
I’d love to now to help you craft timeless images of your pet which will stay with you for their lifetime and beyond, proudly on display for many years to come.
Me & My Girls
Meet my girls (collectively nicknamed the Beans, no idea why): Bea aka Bea Bea or Beebs: 50% corgi 50% poodle and 100% living in cloud cuckoo land, Oats aka Oatsy, Oatmeal, The Oatcake, Oat Milk, Oatington: brindle whippet, certified goofball and absolute angel of life, speaks in an Australian accent, and Scout - no nickname - border collie as Scottish as they come, born and bred in Biggar, smarter than most humans and has the inner monologue to prove it. And yes, I do have a favourite (gasp!), but you’ll have to ask me about who it is on our portrait session…

“Frankie is the most lovely photographer I have ever met. Her work is beautiful, and her gentle nature takes away any nerves you may have. Pip and I can't thank her enough for the most beautiful images in our favourite city. Thank you Frankie!”

Photography reinvigorated me since the pandemic and gave me purpose and joy on days when the only safe activities were to walk the dog somewhere quiet or stay at home.
My domesticated animal and wildlife images have also received international recognition in multiple competitions, scoring Gold, Silver and Bronzes from The Guild of Photographers, The Societies, The Tog Awards and The BIPP.
Most recently in 2025, I was awarded ‘Overall Photographer of the Year’ and ‘Natural World - Wildlife Photographer of the Year’ by The Society of Photographers for my image ‘Kiss of Death’ (pictured left), and finished 5th place in the Natural World Category in the World Photographic Cup 2025.
In 2024, I took home the ‘Photographer of the Year: Natural World’ title in The BIPP’s Monthly Image Competition and achieved ‘Highest Scoring Image of the Year’ for an image of a Shetland Sheepdog named Bambi photographed in Hong Kong: ‘A Weather Eye’ (pictured left).
Alongside earning my Associateship qualification in Domesticated Animals awarded last November from The BIPP, I was also awarded a Fellowship qualification for a 20-image strong printed wildlife panel by the same organisation and now I am so very proud to be able to call myself an FBIPP in the Natural World Category as well as an ABIPP in Domesticated Animals.
What it means to be a Fellowship holder with The BIPP:
“A client can have, without a shadow of a doubt, the knowledge that this photographer is at the top of their game.”

What’s Next?
I am so stoked to be back in the UK, where my photography journey all began back in 2020 when I’d take my old Nikon crop sensor out on dog walks every morning.
In 2025, I have launched my very first client sessions in the north of England both in the city and in various stunning natural locations in Cumbria: we really are spoiled for choice. Whether you’re in the heart of a city or exploring Cumbria’s scenic landscapes, I can’t wait to capture the bond between you and your dog in the most beautiful way.
I am filled with excitement to bring what I was known for in Hong Kong back to the UK: in creating bespoke portraits that showcase your pet’s unique place in your life and where you live. I’ll also be offering high-quality wall art, from custom canvas prints to framed fine art pieces, so you can display your dog’s portraits from our session in your home for their lifetime and beyond.
Go here to discover for more details on how you can book your own dog portrait session and create personalised pieces of wall art that are as unique and special as your beloved dog.

“We had a lovely morning with Frankie in Liverpool City Centre. Frankie is very professional and friendly and put Frank, my partner and I at ease throughout the photo shoot. Frankie was very communicative about the whole process before, during and afterwards. It was our first time working with a photographer to photograph a pet and we would totally recommend Frankie if you are looking for memorable, beautiful photographs of your dog - that not only capture your dog but also are works of art. We absolutely love the photographs Frankie took, which show our handsome boy in an iconic architectural context and captured snippets of Frank's personality (the photograph we have selected we are going to cherish forever).”
